Name: Nicolette Shannon O'Kieffe
Nickname(s): Cole
Species: Witch
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Weight: 120
Height: 5' 7"
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Tattoos/Piercings:
Lower back left hip/Celtic Triquetras
Nicolette has both of her ears pierced once and will often be found wearing a pair of Chandelier earrings, often times silver rather than gold.
Scars/Birth Marks: Nicolette has heart shaped birthmark just below her hairline on the back of her neck. All the women in her family have had the same birthmark going back generations.
Physical Appearance:
Nicolette was blessed with a tall, slender frame that becomes her mystifying blue eyes and long chocolate locks. By far her most unique feature is her crystalline blue orbs that seem to mimic the pale blue color of the sky.
As for her clothing, Nicolette isn’t particular. Her clothing reflects her mood for that day and is usually composed of a pair of jeans, ballet flats, and some button down shirt left opened to reveal an intricate camisole. It’s comfortable and still a bit trendy. But she is just as comfortable wearing a pair of Soffee shorts and a big tee shirt if the occasion or day calls for it.
Her long chocolate tresses are generally left down, framing her soft features and cascading down her shoulders. Nicolette prefers when her hair is straight--- which is not always the case--- and will spend an hour or two blow drying it to get it to her liking. With a little hairspray and a few pins, Nicolette will be perfectly satisfied.
One thing you will certainly never see her without is a pair of Chandelier earrings. Nicolette has them in every size, color, and stone. It is the perfect accessory to jazz up her simple wardrobe, at least in her opinion.

About your Character:
Personality:
The name Nicolette O’Kieffe is synonymous with two traits: genteel and mysterious.
You will never meet someone as delicate as Nicolette. When she speaks, her voice could be carried away by the slightest breeze--- or at least that is the way most feel. No matter how angry or flustered Nicolette might get, she has learned to restrain her temper and withstand even the most tumultuous of arguments with a certain grace.
In a similar fashion, you might believe that Nicolette might shatter if you handle her too roughly. But that is not the case by any means. She may not be a Goliath but life has taught her to wield a sword of passive resistance against attack.
Another feature that might often time drives others insane is her secretiveness, but it can be found alluring as well. Nicolette will never air her dirty laundry with people that have not won her trust and most of her own thoughts remain locked away. Men find it intriguing; she’s a puzzle they would all enjoy solving. And a few have tried and been unsuccessful. But still it is a curse to have to hide a portion of yourself and even more tragic to be subjected to prying eyes.
As far as quirks go, Nicolette can be prone to romanticizing just about everything. As naïve as she knows it is, she never quite outgrew the fairytales from her childhood. She still longs for the dashing young prince to come riding in on his white horse to save the damsel in distress. That sort of story never grows old and even if the prince, horse, and damsel aren’t likely, the idea of being swept off your feet is still attractive.
One thing you should never do around Nicolette is crack your knuckles. She finds it utterly repulsive and can’t stand it. If you want to get rid of her that is the quickest route.

History:
Irish families are generally large, close-knit clans but in the O’Kieffe’s case that was not a viable option. Kaitlyn Donnelly and Liam O’Kieffe had known each other for years before they entered a romantic relationship. They had grown up in Wenham, Massachusetts, attended the same Catholic high school, and lived in the same neighborhood. But neither one ever knew the other existed. It wasn’t until one bitter, fall afternoon when fate would knock the two together in the library that they actually spoke to one another.
In time, both came to realize their true feelings for one another and within one year of dating, they were married in a quiet church ceremony. Within a span of four years, Kaitlyn miscarried four times. It would be her fifth pregnancy that would bring the beautiful Nicolette Shannon into the world. And from that moment forward, her parents would dote on their only child.
She grew up only a few blocks from where her parents first met in a small brownstone on a quiet street. Her father would place a kiss on her forehead every morning and another at night when he arrived home, fatigued by hours of recruit training, desk work, and situations in the field. But Nicolette proved to be daddy’s little girl and reveled in Liam’s adoration.
As she grew up, Nicolette knew that her family was somehow different from other families. It was not until her thirteenth birthday that her mother explained the Donnelly ancestry. Kaitlyn’s family formed a powerful coven of witches back in Ireland where they had long received respect from either fear or wonderment. It was during that time that her grandmother, Deirdre, the family matriarch, crossed the pond to make sure her only granddaughter out of fifteen grandchildren was well-versed in her gifts.
Reluctant to embrace her family’s past, it was not until the loss of her father that Nicolette began to appreciate her lineage. Liam, the captain of a neighboring city’s SWAT team, would die while on duty during a hostage situation at a Massachusetts bank. All that were present say that he died a true hero, protecting an elderly civilian and taking the bullet meant for her. Nicolette was fourteen and the death of her father was a devastating blow, as one might imagine.
At first witchcraft had only been a form of preoccupation, an outlet for coping with loss. She’d listen to Deirdre speak of different rituals, spells, and potions she used in hopes of keeping her mind off of the present. But by her sixteenth birthday, she was under the spell. She couldn’t wait until her eighteenth birthday when her own powers would be ready for development. When the hallowed night came, Nicolette embraced her powers and the culture becoming a student under her grandmother and perhaps the family’s next great matriarch.
But for now, Nicolette is a senior in high school trying to cope with the pressures of youth, the loss of her father, and a destiny that might be greater than she could ever imagine.
Other: Since learning about the real culture and ancestry of witches, Nicolette finds the stereotypical version of witches that are found in movies offensive. No, witches don’t have warts nor are they hideous. They aren’t all evil; like all people they are both good and bad. She’ll bite her tongue when someone makes a grotesque comment, but deep down she wishes that people would be more tolerant.

From: Life in Miami- Ian Weldon
It had been a father's pride that had prompted Ian to make such a statement about his seven month old daughter. Any other parent would have said the same of their own child even if he or she proved to be a demon. Love blinded them to their children's flaws. But Beckie was a truly angelic child, that was no mere exaggeration.
She looked like a cherub from a fresco in some quaint chapel. Her strands of golden blond hair formed tight little curls that would have put Shirley Temple to shame. Those same bouncy spirals would move whenever the child nodded her head in excited approval. But more so than her hair, it was Beckie's eyes that were her most enchanting feature. The sea foam green irises were pale and sparkling with innocence yet some sort of wisdom also shone through. It was as if all the mysteries of the universe had been entrusted in her.
And even more so than her appearance, Beckie was a complacent child with a smile like a beacon of hope. Even when she threw her little tantrums in that infantile manner which was often quickly followed by crocodile tears and tiny sniffles, one could not stay vexed for long. More often than not, one's heart ached for the little imp.
But with the gossamer-like veil of sleep upon her, no one in their right mind could say that Beckie was not a heavenly being thrust onto the world.
Ian nodded at what Brooke had said as she lowered herself to the ground next to the bed while he stroked his daughter's back as Beckie nestled into the sheets, her tiny fists clench on to the bedspread.
"Some children are just free-spirited," Ian smiled weakly. After all not everyone could be as good as his Beckie.
But the next string of words that Brooke sewed together caught Ian off guard. The hand which had been rubbing Beckie's back stopped moving and quickly retreated to an empty spot on the mattress. He looked at his daughter, the spitting image of Janet, and then back to Brooke who was already apologizing for the question.
"No, no. Don't be sorry, it's really alright."
He caressed the back of her hand absently as his own green eyes focused on the cityscape beyond. The Floridian skyline was spotted with lights that looked like stars in a sea of darkness. It had to be after eight by now which explained why Beckie had been so tired. Ian continued his blank stare while forming the right description of his first love.
"Janet was a childhood friend who was always known for being very timid around people, even people she had known for years. She was stubborn and sometimes a bit demanding of people but only because it broke her heart to see anyone fail. She was always warm and devoted as a girlfriend."
A girlfriend, maybe. But as a mother Janet had fallen short. The child she carried for nine months was never more than an "it". When Beckie was born, that mother affection never surfaced; nurses had to tell her to feed the newborn and hold her. The first chance she got to leave, that was exactly what she did.
Ian face grayed as he thought about the whole thing in retrospect, "She was too young to be a mother. She was sixteen and it was too much for her. It can be too much for a lot of people."
