Fabula
Per orbis terrarum ut est suus somes
Per aer ut est suus spiritus
Per incendia of suus phasmatis
Per aequora of suus uterus
Ut supremus , sic subter supter ,
orbis est no universus.
By the earth that is her body
By the air that is her breath
By the fire of her spirit
By the waters of her womb
As above, so below,
The circle is made whole.
And so it was, on that stormy, windy evening, that four girls from Ipswich, Massachusettes, and four boys from Salem, Massachusettes, ran out into the forest in a town sandwiched between the two towns they lived in, Wenham, and at twilight, when the moon was full, danced. They chanted in songs in the distant language of Latin, an act unheard of that left these three towns in chaos, gossiping amongst themselves over what these children had been doing late at night in a town foreign to their own, without supervision.
Some said they had sold their souls to the devil, slitting their wrists while drinking each other's blood in a ritual so foul only the devil would smile upon the unholy act. Others said the children had all been coincidentally drugged, and acted upon it. Still, others said the children were merely sleep walking, controlled by the devil himself to the same place. Yes, it had been a modern day occurance, however, superstition can not be stopped, and the people of Massachusettes still believed in these unholy coincidences that occured since before they could remember, starting with their ancestors.
After time, things had calmed down without anyone really knowing what had truly happened, people stopped talking and moved on with their lives, as for the children, they'd kept their secret, and acted according to so. The assumptions that had been made about them were ceased, and they only kept in touch with each other through e-mails when they grew old enough to, other than that, the children had no real contact with any technology of today's modern world.
The children grew, and the rumors had vanished mysteriously, and life went on until both the boys, and the girls were brought into the same high school, becoming both feared and loved by the majority of their school mates. Rumors were brought up and new people, new children were added to the rumors. What is the mystery of Massachusettes, and will history be repeated? Travel into the past while living in it's future and create your own hypothesis of what goes on under this colony's dirt.
